Alejandro R. Alvarez

Alejandro R. Alvarez is a trial and appellate attorney. He was admitted to practice law in State of Florida since 2006. He is also admitted to practice law in the District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Since 2006, Mr. Alvarez has been involved in approximately two dozen jury and nonjury trials and over a dozen appeals. In addition, he has represented the interests of several national and state banking institutions in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Mr. Alvarez was recognized in Florida Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star (top 2.5% of Florida lawyers under 40) in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014.

Mr. Alvarez joined Piedra & Associates, P.A. in 2005. He has been instrumental to the growth of the firm from 3 attorneys in 2006 to 10 attorneys in 2014 and the development of the firm’s reputation as one of top commercial trial firms in South Florida. Mr. Alvarez was named Partner in 2011.

Mr. Alvarez earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the School of Engineering at Vanderbilt University in 1998. He later attended the Florida International University College of Law and earned a Juris Doctor degree in 2005 as a member of its inaugural graduating class. While at FIU, Mr. Alvarez was a member of the Moot Court Board of Advocates and Mock Trial Team. He co-founded the Health Law Society and served as the President of the Student Bar Association. Mr. Alvarez later served as President of the FIU College of Law Alumni Association and remains an active member of the Association.

Mr. Alvarez is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, the Cuban-American Bar Association, and the Third District Court of Appeals Historical Society.
